Saturday 15 October was a busy day for esc Consulting!
Rikki attended the Community Coffee event with Deputy Premier Jackie Trad at West End and had the opportunity to discuss appropriate development and provision of affordable housing within the area. It was a great opportunity to offer comment and support for better design and community planning outcomes.
Valerie attended the THECA forum on Barriers to Conservation. THECA is the The Hut Environmental and Community Association, a not-for-profit community organisation in the western suburbs of Brisbane that focuses on environmental awareness, education and action. The calibre of the speakers was amazing with Don Sands OA, renowned insect taxonomist and ecologist; Jane Hutchinson, CEO of the Tasmanian Land Conservancy and Tasmanian of the Year 2016 (pictured below); Jo-Anne Bragg from the Environmental Defenders Office Qld; as well as CSIRO, Griffith University and UQ researchers. In the audience was Dr Christian Rowan MP. Valerie took the opportunity to discuss the political reform measures that are needed to ensure appropriate environmental protection for Australia’s natural treasures with Chris.
